Recently, scammers are targeted hotel site Booking.com by sending customers phishing messages, intended to steal their susceptible or confidential financial information.

According to the Sun, criminals were sent out some text messages, and WhatsApp messages to the customers stating about a security breach had occurred, and then the recipients were needed to change their username or passwords. After that, the attack mail came with a link, when you clicked on the link, then they gave customers bad performers access to bookings. These criminals then pursued up with a second message which indicated that they needed customers’ banking information for making complete advance payment of the bookings.
The Marketing manager David Watts of Newcastle received one of the attack messages, stating that “It seems very convincing, and I can easily believe people fell for it.”
The hotel website Booking.com updated The Sun; it is attentive to these attack messages. They also explain that it had not suffered from a data breach and for that attacker had probably compromised the systems of the hotels with whom it works on a separate portal. Those criminals said that, complete off with the typical booking information like customers’ names, phone numbers, dates, and prices of bookings, addresses, and reference numbers. Then, the attackers have used that information to send the phishing messages, which included those parts of information to increase their appearance of authenticity.
It is not the first time when the scammers have targeted the hotel site Booking.com. In November 2014, news appeared of phishers victim on thousands of the users, some of them fell for the phish and also paid the attackers. Booking.com stated that it had not endured a breach and that criminals had hacked as many as eight hotels, but a representative for one of the affected hotels deprived of having suffered an incident and suggested that the travel e-commerce company “confirm their investigation is systematic and appropriate action is taken.”
